To Stop Smoking

Dangers of Smoking
There is a significant risk factor for
smoking tobacco doing long term
damage and potential fatal conditions. Tobacco use is responsible for
nearly one fifth of deaths in the United States. This relates to 430 000
deaths per year in the USA and 3 million world wide..... And these figures
are still on the increase.
Cigarette smoke destroys the tiny hairs that line the
nose and throat. These tiny hairs or cilia would normally filter some of
the bacteria and viruses in the air that you breathe in.
Smokers are more prone to related smoking diseases, particularly various
types of cancers. Their risks of cancer are increased by 40%-50% more than
non smokers. Stopping to smoke has a direct benefit of reducing the risk
of cancer across the board and even the risk of lung cancer can be halved
within 10 years of stopping.
Smokers are also more prone to other smoking related diseases such as
heart disorder, respiratory diseases and stomach problems.
Nicotine is a drug and smoking tobacco is an addiction. It is one of the
most addictive chemicals that is readily available. Nicotine constricts
your blood vessels which increases the blood pressure. Your heart rate
increases and your blood sugar level also rise. This can lead to premature
heart attacks and significantly increase heart disease.
After many years of smoking the body gets used to its
continues daily nicotine feed. The body will crave this nicotine when you
try and stop smoking. Smokers find it difficult to stop the habit as they
become dependant on the nicotine.
This conditioned behavior helps toxic substances that gradually destroy
the body and its internal organs over time. Smoking is a habitual behavior
that is hard to break - just like any drug is. But quitting it is not
impossible if you are willing and have the desire!
